Lichfield launched as a shirt specialist in 1916
and became one of New Zealand’s leading labels in men’s fashion.
Proud to be New Zealand’s oldest men’s shirt manufacturer, Lichfield have introduced their Vonella range of casual and business shirts.
Taking its name from Lichfield Street in Christchurch during The Great War, Lichfield supplied the NZ Armed Forces with their cotton shirts. Before long, their classic white business shirts were in high demand.
At one stage, Lichfield Shirts leased the top floor of the iconic Blackwell’s Store in Christchurch. There they housed over 60 machinists.
To this day, Lichfield are rated one of the top makers of shirts in the Land of the Long White Cloud. They make some pretty great clothing across the ditch and Lichfield are certainly up there with the best!
Lichfield’s Vonella Blend combines cotton and acrylic to become breathable and that helps draw moisture away from your skin leaving you dry and comfortable.
Vonella adds Wool-like characteristics to the yarn which makes the garment soft but also very durable. There is nothing really fancy about Vonella shirts as the main aims are comfort and quality. The patterns include a variety of checks, some fine textural weaves and a series of hues designed specifically for the workplace.
The Winter weight shirt fabric is soft to the touch and very light weight, which is deceiving as the shirts are incredibly warm in the colder months. In the Summer they breathe meaning they are cool to wear.
Brown’s are proud to have the opportunity to have Vonella Shirts in our collection as they represent what we are about: comfort and style with only the best in quality.
